Harris County GOP trial lawyer circumventing laws.
Who would have thunk it? A Republican trial lawyer splitting hairs to
keep a disgraced Republican incumbent off the ballot? Two years ago,
the Harris County Republican party chief trial lawyer, Jared Woodfill,
was fighting to keep a disgraced Republican incumbent, Tom DeLay, on
the ballot. How times have changed.
According to the Houston Chronicle, (first disclosed by Defending
People) the DA (Dumb Ass) did not withdraw from the race according to
the rules of the State:
Here's section 145.001 of the Texas Election Code:
145.001. METHOD FOR WITHDRAWAL AS CANDIDATE. (a) To withdraw from
an election, a candidate whose name is to appear on the ballot must
request that the candidate's name be omitted from the ballot.
Rosenthal's letter to the GOP didn't. It also wasn't notarized clearly
in violation of the rules of the state. Therefore Rosenthal is still
on the ballot, the extension was invalid, and therefore there is only
one challenger, Jim Leitner.
Rosenthal's one-sentence letter withdrawing from the ballot
Wednesday may have been worded inexactly. It asked that his
"nomination" be withdrawn even though he had not yet won the
nomination in the primary. It also lacked notarization, which party
leaders at first had said it must have.
But following the law isn't exactly what the Republican party does
very well. After all they support torture, spying on Americans, and
removing Americans rights to a trial by jury, And the Harris County
GOP has their very own trial lawyer (you know those greedy bastards
that clog up our court system, file frivolous lawsuits, and split
hairs in the law of the land), Jared Woodfill, the GOP chair himself.
The law is very clear, yet Jared is making excuses like he did for Tom
DeLay. You would think the Harris county GOP could at the very least
get a resignation letter correct.
The hypocrisy continues in the GOP.

Partisan loyalty makes people do strange things. For example,
Fox News is taking a real beating for its inexplicable
exclusion of Ron "Rock Star" Paul from a televised forum.

John, it's dishonest to use doctored photos, like that one of
Tom DeLay.

Since when has honesty mattered to John?
